Agritopia Farm Photos – Gilbert, AZ

Everything You Need to Know About Taking Photos at Agritopia Farm (Plus a Look at This Dreamy Maternity Session)

Agritopia Farm in Gilbert, Arizona is one of the dreamiest spots you can pick for photos. Whether you’re planning a maternity session, family portraits, engagement photos, or branding images, this hidden gem offers a peaceful, nature-filled backdrop that feels like you’re stepping right into a storybook.

I recently had the honor of photographing a maternity session here for Nate and Allison, and it was pure magic. I’ll share more about their shoot in a bit, but first, if you’re considering booking Agritopia Farm photos, here’s everything you need to know — from permits to timing, styling tips, and what makes this location so special.

Where is Agritopia Farm?

Agritopia Farm is located at:

3000 E Ray Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85296

It’s nestled right in the heart of Gilbert’s Agritopia community and surrounded by orchards, urban gardens, charming restaurants, and walking paths. The farm itself feels peaceful and private, but it’s just minutes from the 202 freeway — super convenient for anyone in the East Valley or Phoenix metro area.

Do You Need a Permit to Take Photos at Agritopia?

Yes, Agritopia Farm does require a photography permit for professional sessions. But the process is super easy and totally worth it for access to their stunning orchard and peaceful green space.

You can purchase a permit directly through their site:

👉 Book Orchard Photo Permits Here

Permits are currently $50 per session and are required before you arrive. Once booked, you’ll get permission to photograph in their designated orchard areas — including those gorgeous citrus and peach trees that create the prettiest rows of green.

Keep in mind: the farm is still a working farm, so they ask that photographers and guests respect the space, stay within the allowed areas, and clean up after the session.

Best Time of Year for Agritopia Farm Photos

The orchard is beautiful year-round, but if you want those lush, blooming rows of greenery, your best bet is spring through early summer. That’s when the trees are full, the leaves are bright, and the little flowers start to pop.

We photographed Nate and Allison’s maternity session in late spring, and the trees were absolutely glowing in the afternoon light. It’s that sweet spot where everything feels fresh, but we’re not yet in the thick of the summer heat.

Fall sessions can also be beautiful here, especially if you’re going for a golden-hour vibe with warm tones, but the greenery is more subtle.

Best Time of Day to Shoot at Agritopia

Lighting is everything — and the farm looks its absolute best during golden hour.

For the best light, schedule your session:

  • In the last hour before sunset for those dreamy, glowy images

  • Or right after sunrise for soft, dewy light and cooler temps

Late afternoon works beautifully if you want to catch that warm sunlight filtering through the trees. The way the light wraps around the orchard rows is unreal.

Where to Eat After Your Session

You’ll probably work up an appetite after all the posing, laughing, and walking around. Luckily, Agritopia has some incredible food options right next to the farm.

Here are a few local faves:

  • Joe’s Farm Grill – Literally steps away from the orchard, Joe’s is a local icon. Think burgers, fresh salads, grilled veggies, and the best sweet potato fries. Kid-friendly, patio seating, and perfect for a post-photo session meal.

  • The Coffee Shop – Right next door. Perfect for a morning session follow-up. Grab a latte, a muffin, or one of their signature cupcakes.

  • Fire & Brimstone – If you’re in the mood for wood-fired pizza, this cozy spot inside Barnone is a must. Great atmosphere, artisan ingredients, and right around the corner.

Example Session: Nate & Allison’s Maternity Photos at Agritopia

Now let’s talk about the session that made me fall even more in love with this location.

I first met Nate and Allison back in 2019 when I photographed their wedding. Since then, I’ve captured their engagement, anniversary, and now — their maternity photos as they prepare to welcome a baby boy. Watching their story unfold through each chapter has been the sweetest experience.

For their maternity shoot, we wanted a location that felt peaceful, romantic, and earthy. Agritopia was the perfect match.

We scheduled their session for late afternoon, right before sunset. The light streamed through the citrus trees, creating these beautiful golden beams that wrapped around them as they walked hand in hand through the orchard. It felt like something out of a movie. Their energy was so relaxed and connected — you could feel how excited and in love they were.

Allison wore a soft, flowy baby blue dress that moved beautifully in the breeze and was such a sweet nod to their little boy on the way. Nate kept it simple and classic with neutral tones. Their styling couldn’t have worked better with the setting.

The orchard gave us all kinds of looks — wide shots framed by tree arches, cozy close-ups tucked between the branches, and those candid moments of laughter and connection that just happen when you’re in a space that feels right.

There’s one image of Nate kissing Allison’s forehead as the sun dips behind the trees, and it might just be one of my favorite maternity photos I’ve ever taken.

Tips for Planning Your Agritopia Farm Session

If you’re ready to plan your own session at Agritopia, here are a few quick tips:

  • Book your permit early. They’re limited and can sell out in busy seasons.

  • Dress for movement and comfort. Flowy dresses, soft textures, and natural tones look amazing here.

  • Bring walking shoes. You can swap into heels for the photos, but parts of the orchard are uneven ground.
