The cost of wedding photography in Arizona can average between $1,000 and $4500. There. I said it. But there are so many factors that play into this average, and I want to give you a quick list of the top things to consider and rate the cost on when you’re searching for a photographer in Arizona.
1. Location – Some locations in Arizona will cost more because the average per household is more. For instance, in Scottsdale, Arizona, the average wedding photographer charges anywhere from $5,000 to $8,000. In places like Chandler or Gilbert, the average cost is anywhere from $2,000 to $3,500. They change from city to city, honestly. Just keep in mind that no matter where you live, professional and high-quality photography will be a big but rewarding investment.
2.Education/Years of Experience – There are lots of photographers that will include the same item in their packages but cost wayyyyy more than others. For me, I base my photography prices on hard costs and my cost of living. I have plenty of experience and have been in business for 4 years now (2018). The more experience a photographer has, the more the cost of their art will be.
3. The Client Experience – You get what you pay for. I don’t go to McDonald’s and expect them to treat me like Chick-fil-a (although that would be nice). Don’t get me wrong, I know lots of nice and caring photographers that are affordable, and I’m not saying that those 2 go hand in hand, but people pay more for awesome experiences and they are willing to pay more if they love their photographer’s work and love them personally. Due to this, some photographers will charge more for their experience, especially when they are in high demand.
4. Wedding + Session Costs – Let’s be honest. It takes money to run a business. I know that just the basic necessities and fees for on my end, film costs, memory cards, insurance cost me about $600 a month and $800 per each wedding I photograph. If they aren’t a legal business, then it’s ok for them to charge 600 for a wedding because they get to keep all of that money. After all of those expenses, I still have to pay taxes which is 20% of the total costs. Most photographers shoot about 1 wedding per month. $3500 – $600 – $800 – 3% (transaction fee) – 20% (taxes) = $1,629.60 that we get to keep in our personal bank account to pay our rent, bills and food :/
